On the Scene

Generation Dream, Deliver the Dream's young professional organization, is hosting a bar crawl, "Passport to The Village at Gulfstream Park," featuring Lousaka Polite, starting fullback for the Miami Dolphins, on July 14.

Registration begins at 7 p.m. at the Playwright Irish Pub and restaurant. Polite will speak at 7:15 p.m. and will be in attendance at the private after-party, at 9 p.m. Both of these events will be at the Playwright Irish Pub and restaurant.

Polite is the Dolphins' starting fullback, and has played for the Dallas Cowboys (2004-2006), Chicago Bears (2007), and the Miami Dolphins (2008-Present).

Generation Dream aspires to fundraise $50,000 this year to sponsor a retreat for children with Cancer. It hosts networking and fundraising events to donate proceeds to a Deliver the Dream.

Deliver the Dream is a nonprofit retreat program that helps families who have a child or a parent living with illnesses such as cancer, autism, HIV/AIDS, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and sickle cell. It has served more than 4,500 family members throughout the Southeast since 2002. A Deliver the Dream retreat helps families enhance coping skills, reduce stress, and cultivate lasting relationships with other families enduring the same illness by combining traditional recreational activities, therapeutic workshops, and peer-to-peer discussion groups. The retreats are provided at no cost to participants. For more information visit http://www.DeliverTheDream.org.

The Village at Gulfstream Park is located at 501 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach. Participants can register early at http://www.deliverthedream.org by clicking on the "Get Involved" dropdown button. •
