I would first like to apologize for the large gap of time between the last blog post and this one. We were all pretty busy around the DTD office with the 9th annual Denim and Diamonds Gala, The 2nd annual Footsteps for Families Walk/Run, and two retreats all happening within a one and a half month period! Secondly, I would like to introduce myself: My name is Elizabeth Coomber and I am the new Outreach Coordinator for Deliver the Dream. I officially started working for Deliver the Dream at the end of September. Before Deliver the Dream I spent 21 months as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali, West Africa. I loved living abroad, but I’ve got to say that working for Deliver the Dream is pretty amazing! I have been on 3 retreats thus far and each one has been a time for personal growth, incredibly fun games, and a chance to meet new friends. My favorite aspect of attending a Deliver the Dream retreat is seeing all the smiles on the families’ and volunteer’s faces. It really just warms your heart knowing you are a part of something so special. I am so excited for my future with Deliver the Dream!

   That's me in the middle!

To keep up with the usual theme of Deliver the Dream blog posts, here are some family testimonials from our October 12th -14th Families who have a Parent with Cancer retreat:
This was a beautifully run retreat, so organized, so much to do for ALL AGES. It gave relief to parents to talk to other parents while kids played with their own age group. The activities were well thought out and applicable as to how to release to cancer and I like getting to share with other women with breast cancer.
We had a wonderful time. Everyone was positive and helpful. I was able to open up and pull out my inner feelings.
Very well run. Good combination of fun and therapeutic activities. It was wonderful spending time as a family and with other families.
It was very nice to get away and focus JUST on my family without distractions from the outside world. The volunteers impressed me with their dedication and caring attitude. The weekend was wonderful- Thank you so much for everything.
