Things are starting to get really busy around here!

We just had our retreat on February 5th-7th for families who have a child with Spina Bifida and it was AWESOME!

Spina bifida is a birth defect that happens when a baby's backbone (spine) does not form normally. As a result, the spinal cord and the nerves that branch out of it may be damaged. The term spina bifida comes from Latin and literally means "split" or "open" spine. This defect happens at the end of the first month of pregnancy, when a baby's spine and spinal cord (a bundle of nerves that runs down the center of the spine) are developing. Sometimes, the defect causes an opening in the back, which is visible. The spinal cord and its coverings sometimes push through this opening. Other times, there is no opening and the defect remains hidden under the skin. Depending on the severity of the defect and where it is on the spine, symptoms vary. Mild defects may cause few or no problems, while more severe defects can cause serious problems, including weakness, loss of bladder control, or paralysis (KidsHealth 2016). That doesn't stop these kids, though, as they really showed their fantastic personalities and skills throughout this retreat weekend!

Here are few pictures from the retreat:

Coming up next week on March 3rd is our 5th Annual Red Hot & In Style event at the Alpine Jaguar showroom. It will unveil bachelors and bachelorettes at the top of their careers who are philanthropists ready to raise funds for Deliver the Dream’s family retreat program. Red Hot & In Style has become a very successful and anticipated event in the community and definitely a fun event that everyone really enjoys!
