Fishing 2012 Press Release

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Deliver the Dream, a South Florida-based nonprofit that organizes retreats for families experiencing a serious illness or crisis, hosted its second annual Fishing for the Dream family fishing tournament on June 1-2, 2012, at The Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club in Lighthouse Point. 

This year’s tournament sponsors included Citrix Systems, Inc., City National Bank, the Lighthouse Point Saltwater Sportsman Association, Stiles Corporation, Sky Bahamas and The Chappell Group. Proceeds from the tournament will go directly to Deliver the Dream’s Family Retreat Program that helps families who have a child or a parent living with an illness such as Cancer, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, HIV, Cerebral Palsy and other life changing medical issues.

The tournament kicked off Friday, June 1, with a Captain’s Party and silent auction at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club. Lines went in on Saturday, June 2, at 7am as anglers fished for dolphin, kingfish, wahoo, cobia and tuna. The Top Boat prize went to Cutnail with On The Rocks in second and Muriel in third. Tim Nielsen won Top Male Angler and Melissa Trujillo won Top Lady Angler. After the weigh in, participants and their families enjoyed a post-tournament BBQ, a Kid’s Casting Tournament - hosted by Chaos Rods, an awards ceremony, and the conclusion of the silent auction. Tito’s Vodka donated the vodka for both the Captain’s Party and Saturday BBQ.
