Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Deliver the Dream, a South Florida-based nonprofit that organizes retreats for families experiencing a serious illness or crisis will be debuting their Fishing for the Dream family fishing tournament in June.

The tournament will kick off Friday, June 24 with a Captain’s Party from 6-8pm at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club. The silent auction will boast a hotel stay at Guy Harvey’s Bimini Big Game Club, luxury men’s and ladies’ watches and plenty of gift packages from local restaurants and tackle shops. On Saturday, June 25, boats will fish for dolphin, kingfish, wahoo, cobia and tuna from 7am – 2pm.  Boats will be visually checked in by 2pm for weigh in at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club.  A fun-filled post-tournament BBQ and pool party for the participants and their families will take place from 2-5pm along with the conclusion to the silent auction. Tournament sponsors include Citrix Systems, Inc. and City National Bank.

All proceeds from the tournament will go directly to Deliver the Dream’s Family Retreat Program, which helps families who have a child or a parent living with an illness or going through a crisis. Deliver the Dream retreats happen every month and invite up to 15 families, free of charge, to get away from the stress of their every day lives and connect with other families living with similar circumstances. Each monthly retreat focuses on a different illness or disorder such as Cancer, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Sickle Cell or HIV.
